Media Statement: Recall of Hino 700 Series Trucks

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) hereby informs consumers that Toyota South Africa (Pty) Ltd is recalling seventy-eight (78) Hino 700 Series vehicles (trucks) made available for sale from 04 December 2024 to 30 June 2025.

Toyota informed the NCC that the recall is due to a fuel pump housing that has an inappropriate surface treatment process done during production. Cracks may develop when repeated high load is applied to the supply pump, leading to a fuel leak. The Hino 700 series trucks were sold nationwide.

Consumers are required to contact any authorised Toyota dealership for a check and, if necessary, replacement of the affected component. The repair will be done at no charge.
