The National Consumer Commission (NCC) informs consumers about the recall of certain Fidlock Hermetic dry bag Medi products in the petrol colourway, as notified by the manufacturer, Fidlock GmbH. The affected product can be identified by Article number D-11111A-F0000 (PTTT) and Lot number 2409140930201. The lot number is located on the back of the seal strip.

According to Fidlock GmbH, the recall is due to a defect in the adhesive bonding of the closure strips to the bag’s film. The closure strips may partially or completely detach, which can cause individual magnets to fall out.The magnets, which are classified as small parts, may pose a serious health risk if swallowed, particularly by children, resulting in serious internal injuries and may be life-threatening. Fifty units were sold in South Africa through Orka Paddles from 4 December 2024 to 1 September 2026.

Consumers who have purchased the affected product are advised to stop using it immediately and keep it out of the reach of children. Consumers should take a photograph of the entire product and the lot number for documentation purposes and contact the seller to arrange a replacement of the product or a full refund.
