Product safety recall – Jeep Grand Cherokee WL vehicles

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) informs consumers of a safety recall issued by Stellantis South Africa affecting 920 (nine hundred and twenty) Jeep Grand Cherokee WL vehicles distributed in South Africa between 2021 and 2023.

According to the supplier, the upper control arm pinch bolt in the affected vehicles may have been damaged during vehicle assembly. This may cause the pinch bolt to break, resulting in a loss of clamp load between the upper control arm ball joint and the knuckle. This could result in the wheel tilting outward, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash without prior warning.

Consumers who own affected vehicles are urged to take their vehicles to an authorised Jeep dealership for inspection and the necessary repair or replacement, which will be carried out at no cost to the consumer. The NCC continues to monitor this product recall in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act.
