The Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and referral protocols

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) is the primary regulator of consumer- business interaction in South Africa, and was established to ensure economic welfare of consumers. The Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and Referral Protocols are embodied in Section 70 of the CPA, which provides for consumers to resolve any dispute in respect of a transaction or agreement with a supplier by referring a matter to an Alternative Dispute Resolution agent (ADR).
